Milan Maria Capobianco, age 8. Cherished daughter of Sharyn & Philip; little sister of Delano; granddaughter of Hazel & Charles Jarratt and the late Maria Antonietta & Pietro Capobianco; niece of Greg, Fabio & Maria and Joseph; cousin of Tina, Peter, Jessica, Amanda, Laura & Charlie, beloved friend and muse of countless others and will be missed by all including her puppy Coco Chanel Capobianco.
Milan was born December 8, 2000 in Grand Rapids, MI and died peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2009, 11:38am at Helen Devos Children’s Hospital. She endured a lifelong battle against the odds which she conquered time and again. She was told she would never walk, and she danced in flip flops! Then she was told she would be legally blind and instead she saw the world clearly. But in the end Milan lost her biggest fight with an inoperable brain tumor.
When the angels arrived we all hoped they would bring a new miracle but instead they took Milan to a place free from doctors, needles and pills, one with big bowls of pasta with tomato sauce and no miso soup. A world where she runs, jumps and dances and gets what she always wanted…to be a normal kid. But Milan, you could never be just ‘normal’, you are extraordinary. A fearless wonder that touched everyone she met and those whose path she just happened to cross.
Though her physical form has changed Milan’s spirit remains the same and it is forever wrapped around all those who knew her and those she continues to touch through her legacy. Milan’s Miracle Fund was established by her parents at first to help her, but now to support families with kids coping with Brain Tumor.
